Our 2022 round-up!

16 December 2022

It’s approaching the end of 2022, the nights have drawn in and winter is definitely here. However 2023 promises better days and new opportunities. So let’s see out the old and see in the new with a positive round-up of 2022 news.

Our experience of exceptional growth led us to seek a new and larger facility and an expansion of our workforce. We are delighted to report that this trend has continued throughout 2022.

Our all new pre-stage facility (our value-add solution)

The move affords us the opportunity to add value to G Comms with the development of our designated ‘pre-stage’ facility. The facility exists to assemble and fit equipment and fibres into cabinets before delivery to mobile sites. We are proud to announce the completion of a successful trial of the pre-staging facility with Vodafone and one of their direct installation partners

The benefits of pre-staging are many. Pre-assembled cabinets delivered onsite ready for installation can reduce risk, waste and operational costs. Not only is it more financially sustainable, but it’s also more environmentally sustainable. G Comms manage all the waste, ensuring everything is properly recycled. Waste management also reduces onsite or side-of-the-road waste.

G Comms are an eco-friendly, sustainable and cost-effective partner. So we’re looking forward to further development of our pre-stage facility with more clients and partners in the new year.

Annual ISO review

At G Comms we believe in establishing processes and measuring outcomes. This is how we improve both safety and performance. This is how we live up to our commitment to continuous improvement.

And so our annual ISO audit is a vital measurement of this commitment. Our ISO auditors found no issues to report, either major or minor in nature. Our auditor went so far as to tell us that the G Comms safety and quality systems are among “the best [they] have ever seen.”

We want to be the best we can be, we’re deeply committed to that. But it’s not all about processes, it’s really about our people. We’ve shown this through our continued expansion of the business. Our maturity as a business is such that we are now in an excellent position to promote internally. Nurturing and developing talent from within is all part of our business sustainability planning. For example, let’s meet Toni Healy.

Toni came to G Comms after twelve years at Boots. She joined last year as a Business Improvement Controller. After a year in which Toni excelled in her post she has since been promoted to the management team as Quality and Conformance Manager.

G Comms and the Community

G Comms isn’t just in the community, we’re a part of it. It has supported us and helped us grow, just as we have supported and nurtured those who work for us. A business can only thrive as we have in a healthy community, and so we believe strongly in giving back where we can.

Throughout the year we’ve been involved in some fun and interesting charity activities – each with a serious and vital purpose at their core. We donated to The UK Sepsis Trust and supported Movember in November.

Most recently we got involved with a group of like-minded local businesses to support The Trussell Trust. Organised by our Brand Agency, PLOTT, the Food Drive was a great success, with food and donations sent to their Christmas Emergency Fund Appeal. Rising bills and rising costs have made the work they do critically important, especially with the arrival of winter weather.

Going into 2023

In November we applied to Coventry City Council for a Green Grant which was approved. We’ve been putting the grant to good use already with energy-efficient LED lighting installed in our warehouse. We’re planning to begin fitting solar panels during the first quarter of 2023. Environmental sustainability is more than good business sense, it’s going to be vital for the future. Being green is really important to us.

The success of G Comms so far gives us an opportunity to really think about the future. That’s why becoming a truly eco-friendly and sustainable company is so important – it adds value to the company, and a sense of pride in our people. Add to that the continued expansion of our technical capabilities, such as the pre-stage facility. We’re more than logistics partners in the supply chain, but a fully-fledged technical partner for our clients. We’re all really excited for the future.
